I told myself I was going to keep Babe Lab in softcore territory, but then I thought...nah. Hardcore and fetish photography is the new "pinup" as far as I'm concerned, so ignoring that vast swath of material just because it's not socially acceptable is bullshit.

Fortune / Words of Wisdom from Toph
Fortune : Thanks, China!
Toph said something wise today pertaining to Starcraft, but I think it's applicable to just about everything. "When you think you're ready...you're not ready. When you think you're not ready...that's when you're ready!"
Just let that sink in a bit.

lifedrawing log - 07.19.10
2 hour pose, and I had to leave early. After missing the last couple weeks it felt good to return, even if it took me 3 false starts to get something even remotely resembling what was going on here. And now, looking at it, I see I should have taken a more dramatic viewpoint. So frontal, especially that left arm, bleugh! Earlier versions were slightly better rendered, but I realized the drawings underneath weren't even deserving of such treatment.
The young lady next to me was doing a much better job of sinking the model's head into that pillow, and even took the liberty of turning the face down into it slightly to avoid the frontal-ness. Smart thinking!
I should have tried wonking it, more like this...
Some sweaty mouthbreather in the front row took a cell phone call and chit-chatted like there wasn't a naked girl in front of him, or a whole room of busy artists behind him. So tacky. So impolite. I'm sorry, but if you get a call at a function like this, take it outside.

sketchpage - value
I struggle with anything that's not a plain ol' line drawing. Thankfully Alexei Samokhin gave me a few private pointers. Lookin' forward to more of his tuts.

Arisen fan art
Last Wednesday at sketch night I did some drawings based on this Arisen race in Allods Online. They're sort of like The Necron in Warhammer 40K, but Egypt-ified.
The ones in-game look waaaay cooler, and are beautifully painted. Some versions, which I found out about later, have this chunky shoulder armor that I wish I'd included on my ref sheet. Plus I forgot to give the female a tail, even after a friend sitting next to me who plays the game told me, "Dude, you know they've got tails, right?"
Still, a pretty fun little exercise.

Singularity prototype drawings / confessing past sins
If I dig up any more, I'll post, but here are some pre-pre-production Singularity uglies from, like, four years ago. Imagine these guys all gnawin' on your junk....nom nom nom...
On this top drawing, I think I actually traced over some photo of a dude. *bbbrrrrrrrr!* Why did I do that? It was just eyes and ears. I think Raven had such a hardon for realistic proportions that I felt pressured into it. Gah. So filthy. And it doesn't even look good! If you're a concept artist and you trace over photos, you're a bitch and you don't deserve to make even a modest living. Yeah, I said it!
That last one was semi-traced, too, from some generic pose library. The nerve! Can't wipe the wretched taste of cheating from my mouth!
Vinod, I'm so sorry, but I must quote from your priceless email...
"I think all artists that trace shit for final work should have to register at a 'copy art offenders registry' (like the sex offenders registry). They would have to post a picture of them tracing, complete with a pedo-smile and they would have to list what projects and pieces they traced. It'll keep non tracers up to speed on their offenses.
Tie it into googlemaps and you know how close you live near a tracer! Really important knowledge if you have young aspiring artist kids."
