As some of you know (or would prefer to forget), Duke Nukem Forever shipped today. I actually made it into the manual credits under "additional concept art." While I can't say much for the product, I had three very formative years at 3D Realms, and for that I thank them.
Here's a hairier, more optimistic me a decade ago at E3. So yes, THIS REALLY HAPPENED.
The following is a smattering of work I did while there, all portfolioed up. Ancient, yes. Embarrassing, yes. But part of my history nonetheless. You can see still more here and here.

Epic Post Paul!
It's really cool to see the "seeds" of your style. I beg you to "crit" some of these, that would be really fun to read.
You've come a LONG way man.
It's also sad to see that the immaturity of our industry really hasn't changed that much.
Very coolio. Thanks for the post!
It's time to kick ass and chew bubble gum...and I'm all out of gum....
Awesome to see the beginnings of one of my favourite concept artists.
Thanks for posting! Very interesting to see the 3D use and the more natural reference in the bugs with spindly legs.
I was at E3 that year, I remember those guys! Wasn't that the year they had schoolgirls strippers in the "alternate" E3 across the road from the main event?
I applaud you, Paul for sucking it up and posting these. I always figured you for a guy that didn't like to look back but it's awesome to see how much you've grown and improved since then.
And Vinod, as long as there are teenage boys and creepy old guys like me, the industry will never mature. :)
Monster update! great to see your progression as an artist. Very kewl.
Dude, thank you so much for pasting this! I've always wanted to know what your very early work looked like. In way, posting this stuff is as inspiring as your current work.
In terms of what Vinod said, I think the sales will show whether the consumers are as immature as they was 10 years ago. I hope it's changed.
dude, that's awesome. Very fun to see old school Paul and where you're at now. Awesome.
Unfiltered! Awesome stuff. Thanks for posting from the archives. I'm so jealous of folks who got started on their career early.
Wow, did your style evolve... I actually see a slimmer of hope now.
