sick and searching

Ill this weekend...just me and my therapy pumpkins. When everything else is a strain, you just want some things to be easy.

((The little stars indicate where I was observing something, or someone.))

I think it may be high time for me to exit this "mega comp of disjointed head drawings" phase and enter into a "one-drawing-per post" phase like so many artists I admire. Seriously, my heroes aren't doing this, and for good reason : no one remembers cascading pages of jumbled sketches! It's hard to let go of ingrained habits, especially if you feel like they're strengths, and try new, uncomfortable things. I'll save iteration for the workplace and strive to be more decisive when I'm off-duty.

Love that lesbian couple on the right...

Contact is so hard to draw. I must have erased those heads a million times until I found angles that looked acceptable.

I think the secret is to "clip" the figures ever so slightly into each other, since there's some smashing that occurs.

Thanks, man!

I remember, look forward to, and very much appreciate your cascading pages of jumbled sketches!

Right, new things are always pain in ass. Hakumen was such of this type pain for me.

You sir are a very wise artist. And your pumpkins are unmatched.

Thanks, all. @ Firstkeeper - You finished your Brawl entry, which is saying something. Not only did you learn things, but you once again demonstrated your staying power. // @ Gino - I'm increasingly concerned that I have nothing to say, which could explain my lack of staying power. Someone from a previous job described what I do as "artistic masturbation", in that it's not as potent as an act of real lovemaking, i.e. a thought-out, researched "story drawing." I'm constantly blowing my wad on these jerkoff pages, so...low supply! Discipline is needed to build stamina!

cool! X)))

nice post
your work constantly inspires me :)

.. and btw, in order to the sex analogy..

lovemaking is more like a gift, one just can't force it

in the meantime, a normal guy does what must do..
and.. experiences like rough sex are just funny XD

There's nothing wrong with therapy art, warm-ups and warm-downs especially. Some if not most of the greats do them, and your love of mugshots fits that bill I think.

Also, pity party? You are easily in my top 5 influences not to mention favorite artists. Keep up the amazing work and thank you for these glimpses into your world.

Now: gimme some full blown figure drawings and pose thumbs stat!
